Filoptohos literally means “friend of the poor”. The Filopthohos of St Ioannis Parramatta consists of a group of ladies who meet on the first Wednesday of every month from 7 till 8pm. The Filoptohos fund-raises by doing cake stalls and other activities, and uses the money to help those in need, and also may one day contribute financially to some of the needs of our new Church. The Filoptohos also organises and caters for the refreshments that is offered after every Sunday Liturgy in our hall, and helps the Parish at other times as well, depending on the needs.
If anyone wants to join or help, you can simply turn up at one of the monthly meetings, usually the first Wednesday of the month 7 – 8pm, or contact Haroula on 0413 189 769
