The Hellenic Orthodox Community of Parramatta and Districts was established in May 1960 by Greek Orthodox Christians who lived in the region, with the blessing and under the spiritual umbrella of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia.
The Parish Community was established for the purpose of building a Church that could meet the religious needs of the Orthodox Christians of the region, and to establish a Greek Afternoon School that could teach the Greek language, Greek history, and in general whatever is related to our Greek Orthodox heritage.
The Foundation committee, a ten (10) member committee was established: Marinos Kouvaras (President), Minas Psaltis (Vice-President), Panayiotis Moutzouris (Treasurer), Dimitrios Kouimanis, Nicholas Coroneo, Pantelis Pantelopoulos, Andrew Prineas, Andrew Lagas, Angelo Christian and Theodore Karozis.
The Parish Community was well-served by the Very Rev Fr Nicholas Tsouloukidis until 31 August 2008, at which time, and with the blessings of His Eminence Archbishop Stylianos, was succeeded by the Very Rev Fr Dimitrios Kokkinos.
In May 2010 our Parish Community celebrated its 50 year anniversary. Please click here to view our 50 year anniversary booklet.
