Ορθοδόξων Χριστιανικών Κύκλων Κυριών και Δεσποινίδων
Η ομάδα του Αγίου Ιωάννου είναι ένα τμήμα του Ορθοδόξου Χριστιανικού Κύκλου Κυριών και Δεσποινίδων Σύδνεϋ και είναι συνδεδεμένη με την Ορθόδοξη Χριστιανική Ένωση πού ιδρύθηκε στο Σύδνεϋ το 1955.
Κάθε Σάββατο στης 3.00 μμ. συγκεντρωνόμαστε σε μία αίθουσα στο χώλ της Εκκλησίας και στης 3.30 μμ αρχίζει το μάθημα πού διαρκεί μία ώρα. Οι ομιλητές μιλούν στα Ελληνικά, και τα μαθήματα έχουν να κάνουν με την Ορθόδοξων πίστη μας, με το Ευαγγέλιο και με την Ορθόδοξη παράδοση μας. Συχνά έχουμε ομιλητές και κληρικούς επισκέπτες.
Οι γυναίκες βρίσκουν τον Κύκλο ένα καταφύγιο και μία ευλογία που τις συνδέει αναμεταξύ τους και με την πίστη τους. Τούς δύνεται και η ευκαιρία για ιεραποστολή, όπως ομάδα επισκέψεως στα νοσοκομεία, στα γηροκομεία και ως δασκάλες θρησκευτικών μαθημάτων στα δημόσια σχολεία της περιφερείας μας.
Για να μπορούμε να προσφέρουμε ουσιαστικά στην ζωή της Εκκλησίας και για να έχουμε βοήθεια στη δικιά μας προσωπική πνευματική ζωή χρειαζόμαστε ενίσχυση και συμπαράσταση από ένα σώμα γυναικών πού είναι στενά δεμένο με το Ορθόδοξο πνεύμα της εσωτερικής ιεραποστολής. Αυτό προσπαθούμε να αποκτήσουμε στον Κύκλο μας.
Ο Κύκλος θα ξαναρχίσει για το 2024 το Σαββατο 17 Φεβρουαρίου.
This Fellowship group, which is held in Greek, will be recommencing on Saturday 17 February 2024
This Bible study group is the St Ioannis, Parramatta branch of the Greek Orthodox Group for Ladies and Young Women. It is affiliated with the Greek Orthodox Christian Society here in Sydney which had begun nearly half a century ago. In our parish it had begun 30 years ago.
Every Saturday at 3.00p.m we gather in the Church hall and meet. The lesson begins at 3.30.p.m and lasts for approximately one hour, in Greek. We have a speaker who leads a Bible study discussion, or a lesson based on the teachings of the Church Fathers, our Orthodox tradition or about the lives of our saints. Often we have guest speakers as well as visiting clergy.
The women find that this group meets their need to have a forum where they can connect with others as well as with their faith. They are also offered the opportunity to assist in the missionary work of our Church, which is to learn about our faith and to transmit this knowledge into action, in the home and in one’s immediate environment. Some of our members are involved in voluntary organisations such as visiting the sick in hospitals or in nursing homes. Some are Scripture teachers. The younger group of women are involved as Sunday school teachers.
In order to be able to offer service we need to be given spiritual and pastoral guidance in our own lives. Being part of a body of women who is strongly affiliated with the Church and its teachings enables women to be able to offer of themselves to others while being renewed on a weekly basis.
